News 1: Mojo, the connected contact lense of a new generation

In 2014 Google announced a contact lense à la Google Glasses, and the project was stopped. Now comes Mojo Vision, the connected contact lense. Just received a founding of $50m (159m in total). The contact lens has built-in display that gives timely information without interrupting the eyes’ focus. Opinion: This is a stunning technology company that has the miniaturised tech and optometrists capacities. Smart lenses for workers in factories, bike users on the road or people with poor eye sight. B2B Takeout: Augmented Reality is marching in further in more commercial applications and more objects that can provide it (masks, glasses, lenses). 2021 will be the AR year.

News 2: Jukebox, the new wonder by OpenAI

OpenAI is a tech company focussing on AGI — Artificial General Intelligence. This as an open software. The latest solution is a software that can develop any music in a specific genre. Hence Jukebox. Opinion: Any genres can be developed: pop, rock, heavy metal, country, etc. Love the publication (quote) “We tackle the long context of raw audio using a multi-scale VQ-VAE to compress it to discrete codes, and modeling those using autoregressive Transformers”. B2B Takeout: Remember? Microsoft invested 1 billion USD in OpenAI in October 2019, it does help to further develop neural nets and share the code.

News 3: Brain behind the brain

SoftBank Vision Fund’s smallest invest for years came a month ago in Brain Corp with (only) 36m USD (altogether 161m, with already 114m from SVF). Brain Corp is in a sense “the brain behind the brain”, the technology to build robots of any kind. Software for production, deployment and support of robots in commercial use. Opinion: Softbank investments have been highly criticised. This one makes sense, even small. Brain Corp will expand in a time where robots will provide services “no-touch”, “no-human” after Corona. B2B Takeout: BrainOS is the software for robots to navigate, avoid obstacles, adapt to changing environments, manage data, generate reports, and interact with end-users and other robots. Any robots enterprise can build a robot on this OS (not really any ;).
