Raspberry AI is a GenAI platform for fashion designers. Designers can turn sketches into photorealistic renderings, generate technical drawings, create seamless prints, produce on-body and lifestyle images. In January 2025, the New York-based company received $24m Series A funding led by Andreessen Horowitz. Opinion: A product fitting the market dynamic. Fashion brands, including large ones like Under Armour and MCM use Raspberry AI to create and iterate apparel, footwear, accessories.
A massive time save for fashion creatives, AI in every step of the design process. Interesting, to say the least.
🧵 3D weaving for apparel, Unspun.

Unspun develops a 3D weaving technology to produce custom and low-waste textiles. Two main products: Vega and Jeans. Vega weaves garments directly from yarn, eliminating intermediate stages. Unspun Jeans uses body scans and automated weaving to create personalized denim. Unspun is based in San Francisco, total funding of $58.4m. Opinion: Decathlon partnered with Unspun to implement Vega across Europe. Additionally, Unspun has secured a multi-year agreement with Walmart to deploy Vega machines for localized production in North America.
Waste reduction, local production, less overproduction, fashion on demand is the holy grail of fashion. Unspun is one to watch.
🧪 Lab-grown alternative to animal leather, Faircraft.

Faircraft develops lab-grown leather using cellular agriculture. The company cultivates animal skin cells to replicate the structure of leather, a sustainable alternative to conventional leather production. Six material colours at Faircraft, a focus on luxury goods. Faircraft is based in Paris, in November 2024 they raised €15m in Series A funding. Opinion: Many leather alternatives out there, a growing demand for sustainable leather alternatives way beyond fashion. Multiple patents for Faircrafts procedure to produce lab-grown leather, a scalable process.
