News 1: More users, more ad revenue. TikTok now expands among marketers. A shop button!

TikTok launched in 2019 a creators’ marketplace. Creators are the video producers, TikTokers. Advertisers can select a creator to promote their products, based on audience and budgets. Now TikTok tests a “shop now” button. TikTok and creators split the revenue. Opinion: TikTok takes good care of asset number one: the video creators — some of them professional videographers. Remunerating them with link to brands. Big match ahead: Youtuber vs.TikToker. B2B Takeout: Marching to leadership, TikTok offers more tools for advertisers — the “marketplace” and various ad formats — the most famous of them a challenge connected to a brand (see the Haribo challenge).

News 2: More Amazon buyers, more ad places

Amazon Advertising is the service to place ads in Amazon — and has risen fast. Latest figures of +40% (est.) in Q1 2020. The reasons: increasing audience, a better ad platform and advertisers that are less impacted by covid-19 crisis (travel industry don’t advertise on Amazon). Opinion: Amazon will come out as the big, big winner after the pandemic. In the advertising market as well. That will further nourish the debate in the US (democrats) of splitting the giant. B2B Takeout: The list of ad places at Amazon: display ad, video ad, custom ad, sponsored products, brands, displays and stores. With more tools in the ad platform.

News 3: No touch, ask Google. Google Home in promotion

Usage of voice assistant praise to rise in pandemic and WFH times and Google pushes the hardware Google Home, presently at 29$ instead of 99$ in the US (79€ instead of 99€ in Europe). Opinion: We can assume that usage of voice-controlled assistants will rise in a context of “no-touch” and long stay at home. Google uses the momentum to push its hardware — or to destock. Sales of Google Home have not been that spectacular in last 12 months. B2B Takeout: Always worth highlighting how Google, Amazon or Facebook operates as an online store of electronics. Facebook Portal grows, at last, thanks to video conference new usage.
