Have you already met Mixmaster Moodie?
A new companion, a mechanical arm! It utilises AI to determine a person’s mood and serves a corresponding drink. Mixmaster Moodie uses AI to analyse visual and acoustic signs, such as facial expressions. A drink is served out of a list of 24 drinks, themselves developed by ChatGPT. After the drink is prepared, another robot arm adds garnish and presents the beverage to customer. Opinion: The robot barkeeper was shown at this years CES by Korean Doosan Robotics. Moods assessed include joyful, sad, angry, frustrated, terrified, astonished, and neutral. Just a great and fun use case. They added a robot coffee maker as well: Dr. Presso.

The drink is called “NanoFizz” and it is a pre-mixed cocktail in a bottle, ready-to-drink. Although ChatGPT did not mix it, the AI had been used to create the drink recipe, packaging, name and marketing materials. Opinion: Produced by German winery Katlenburger, first presented on a specialised wine trade show in March 2024. Today available in their online shop. The recipe: citrus, bitters, and a fruity taste. ChatGPT — a great sparring partner for brainstorming and creative ideas. At SLI we also always ask our “AI colleague” first, when starting a new research.

Cocktails from a capsule with Bartesian
Bartesian has developed a cocktail-mixer machine to use at home. Founded in 2014 and headquartered in Chicago, Bartesian’s machine uses capsules to add flavours of famous cocktails to base spirits like vodka, rum or gin. The capsules contain drink-specific ingredients such as juices and bitters. Each capsule stands for one type of drink. Nine of them are available. Opinion: One can imagine the Bartesian Cocktail Maker as a “Nespresso for cocktails”. The promise: consistent, high quality drinks, without being a professional bartender. Drink strength is the only variable that can be changed.
