News 1. Thursday, a dating app only available one day a week and taking over London

From episode “Weekday company names” (05.10.2021): Thursday is a new dating app from London (available in London and NYC), only available on Thursdays. Swiping, matching, texting and setting up a date all happens on the same day (Thursday). All matches get deleted after that day and users have to start over the next week. Outside Thursday the app is “closed”, showing nothing but a countdown to the next Thursday and a toggle to choose if you’re ready for dates that week. Opinion: In London, Thursday is all the rage right now, with posters everywhere and people talking about it — and about the big launch party. Their posters are highlights, sometimes bashing sometimes praising Tinder, Bumble and other dating apps.
Creating scarcity and hype by only being available one day a week. Could be a concept for social media apps to copy, maybe solving social media addiction.
News 2. Sunday builds fashion collections for companies, no more boring corporate wear

From episode “Sunday, a good company name — 3 examples (weekday series)” (19.10.2021): Sunday (teamsunday.com) is a Belgian (Flemish) company specialised in merchandise — very modern view of merchandising clothing. Sunday is a platform where (larger) companies can develop, order and manage dedicated fashion collections. Employees become “ambassadors”. Opinion: Sunday team commented a lot on our first post on companies with weekdays as names. (Thanks). A good way to discover a new company. Why Sunday? “On Sunday people do and wear what they want. Sunday is the ultimate symbol of personal preference.”
Great client line up — Adyen, Gorillas, Airbnb, TikTok, Google and slogan “fashion for non-fashion brands”.
News 3. Delipop is popping up in Paris

From episode “Automate avant-garde — 3 autonomous stores from Paris” (20.12.2021): Delipop launched a pick up location for groceries in cooperation with Carrefour in October. To use its service, customers have to order groceries in Carrefour Drive and set the Delipop store as the pick up location. Customers can pick up their orders the same day if ordered in the morning or next day if ordered later during the day. Customers get an access code to enter the colourful Delipop pick-up store. Opinion: Delipop aggregates orders and thus operates at significant lower cost compared to ultra-fast deliveries. At the same time the fresh and modern designed pick-up stores can keep up with the coolness-factor of Gorillas.
A hip and cool pick-up store for groceries, we hope to see more of these around Europe’s neighbourhoods.
