3 innovation and digital news in 1 minute. Every Monday. Episode 278

News 1. Growing with warehouses for e-commerce, Exotec robots

Exotec is a robot system that can reach high storage and pick up products within 2 minutes. The system prepares the orders before dispatching. It increases the output up to 5 times versus traditional systems. Exotec rolls out this system in warehouses for e-commerce in Europe and the US. Series D with €295m led by GoldmanSachs Ventures. Opinion: A large financing amount from a very influential venture capitalist. A large ambition as well, grow revenue 10 times and reach the billion $ mark in revenue by 2025. Exotec builds the warehouse systems and robots called Skypod and a robotic arm called Skypicker.

Reaching the sky soon? Let’s follow Exotec expansion as of now.

News 2. Spendesk, the hub for all spendings of a company

All “corners” of an enterprise are covered by a start-up idea and tech. Spendesk covers the “spending” part of a company. It is a platform for all kinds of costs: expenses with a credit card, incoming invoices. It allows for a real-time control — with dashboards, alerts, analysis, predictions. And a new financing round of €100m by General Atlantic (and others). Opinion: Spendesk is at the crossing of enterprise credit card “bank” and process management software. The big advantage here is the clear, fast management of role and approval process. And budget control. A solution mainly for small enterprise, a large market worth large fundings.

CFOs have their software and start-up world as well!

News 3. Exoskeleton by Wandercraft

Exoskeletons sustain a body and help to recover from accidents. Wandercraft is the specialist, and now a champion of a new generation of exoskeletons — with a new financing of €45m led mainly by private equity investors. The robot called Atalente is attached to the lower body and helps patients to walk again. Opinion: Medical devices and medical solutions in general have grown in visibility in the very much software-oriented world of start-ups and scaling. In fact, this is the limitation of Wandercraft, scaling. Wandercraft manufactures the device and cannot scale as much as a SaaS business for example.

Augmented human — with a very useful medical device.
