Llama 2 is a sign of a happy Meta

Among the AI sphere, everyone knows this: Llama 2 is one of the best Large Language Model on the planet, and open-source. Meta decided to give most of its AI software open-source. Follows Code Llama for coding, and based on Llama2. Follows Audiocraft, TTS/STT and DinoV2 (vision). It all adds up to PyTorch, one of the largest AI libraries (along with Google’s TensorFlow). Very clear: Meta goes for an open-source strategy. Opinion: Llama2 was launched exactly 2 months ago (July 2023) and has grown to be the reference in the LLM market — if anyone produces an LLM, it’s compared to Llama 2. This is happening at a moment where Meta is a “happy” company with very good earnings (see Q3/2023) and progress in metaverse.

Google joins OpenWallet — what?

OpenWallet is part of the largest open-source initiative in the world of IT, the Linux foundation. The open-Wallet intention is to build an open-source architecture and back-end for a wallet and many related use cases. Any company can take the code and build a wallet with standardised APIs for ticketing, cards, keys we all know from wallets. Opinion: The idea is simple: break the duopoly Apple Wallet and Google Wallet — this is announced here in this blog the launch of the OpenWallet foundation in 2022. Duopole? No — monopole of Apple. In the meantime, Google wallet hasn’t gained track midst the many Android layers and is officially joining OpenWallet.

Apple Wallet, is a monopoly. Let’s see it that way.

Stability.ai opens up more use cases: now sound generation

The London based Stability.ai has grown its reputation with an image generation Stable Diffusion, and many secondary cases. Now, launching a music generation tool called Stable Audio. Free for the production of 45 sec. of music prompted by a text. Opinion: Stable Audio is right now our favourite music generation tool. It beats the one we used before MusicGen from Meta (available on Hugging Face) by far. The competition between the generation tools and each new version beats another one. Like DALLE-3 beats champion Midjourney in image gen.
