More discreet but continuous investment in AI start-ups around the globe
3 innovation and digital news in 1 minute. Every Monday. Episode 306
News 1: Tabnine understands and writes the code. 1 million use it.
Tabnine is an AI assistant for code development. The Tel-Aviv based start-up just received new invest from Headline VC ($15m, adding to $32m) for a niche. A niche but with high stake behind — helping coders to code more. Here with whole-line, full function completion and natural language to code, right in the editor. The (newest) AI has been developed on native code and can understand what dev writes and complete. Tabnine passed the 1-million user mark in June. Opinion: Developer velocity, this is how Microsoft calls it. In a moment where developers are a scarce resource — helping them to develop faster and more makes sense. It also improves the quality and (in a group) the consistency of code.
The AI does the job.
News 2: Assistant against repetitive taks — Automaited
It is a new kind of “Robot Process Automation”: Automaited is a software, an assistant that runs on a desktop of any employee and detects repetitive tasks. It then suggests automation with “buttons” on the screen. The user can have the automation run and suggest adjustments. Based in Cologne and a first round of finacing of €4 millions. Opinion: RPA… the robots don’t necessaraly need AI. So where is the AI here? The machine learns when the user corrects and suggests paths for the automation, perfecting it and making it available for other users. So many hours are wasted in companies in repetive tasks, tables, article numbers, reporting.
Automaited (yes, with an “i”) will expand as long as hours are wasted in offices.
News 3: Contentsquare with huge financing and ML
They are today the leader in digital experience analytics, that is above all customer journey analysis on a website. It gathers all datas in this areas and can give what happens on a site within secons. A dashboard with all the data for insights. Much on the news with a $600m finacing. Opinion: Machine learning at Contentsquare? Mainly alerts (they call it AI Alerts) to detect anomalies on site, but also scoring for opportunities and even for revenues. This where AI can help. (Like in Salesforce dashboard).
