Assess car damage with AI, Tractable
Tractable is a solution that can assess damages on cars and property. Based in London they have just bagged new funding of $65m adding to $185m. Tractable has grown to a leader in photo and claim analysis. It saves mountains of time and only passes to humans in case of doubt. It can also identify fraud. Opinion: Its vision computing is bound to a large data bank of cases. This is where AI can help and Tractable stresses that they use AI 1/ to train image recognition on millions of pictures 2/ develop an accuracy scoring 3/ to identify the parts for sourcing and recycling.
AI, very tangible!
Infogrid, the one platform for building management
Also from London, Infogrid is a platform that aggregates information from sensors in buildings. Measuring structural health, energy efficiency and sustainability performance. These are the 3 use cases put forward by Infogrid. $135m funding for this. Opinion: Infogrid has an “ideal” pitch. Construction and building management have been low-tech and low on data. This is the mission of Infogrid, gather data to make building management smart. An obvious choice is the platform name “Smart Building”.
Just makes sense: measure building performance!
SVF keeps on investing in mobility, Tier Mobility
Berlin based Tier is e-bikes and e-scooters rental. And has gone through 10 funding rounds since founding in 2018. With Softbank Vision Fund as a main investor, performing a follow-up invest in May (convertible note). A busy Tier with rolll-out in the UK, with the 15 millionth ride in Germany and a foot in Strasburg. Opinion: The market of e-scooter rental is in a mature state, fewer brands around and in search of profitability (we all did our calculation with a rent of an e-scooter x number of scooters x cities etc.). A difficult calculation.
A difficult calculation, but an established market.
