News 1: StayKeen from Google, yes or no?
Google is testing StayKeen as a website and a webapp (beta) as a direct competitor to Pinterest. “Share your passion” is the claim — recipes, hobbies, tips… looks like Pinterest. The examples: baking bread at home or discovering typography. Market reaction: zero! Opinion for B2B: A blog article, a short one, a webapp in test (Google apologizes for it in the description), a name that is Keen or Staykeen. It looks like a “parallel project” of a Google team that no-one dared to stop!
Staykeen.com is the address. Look and get bored!
News 2: Swirl, a component for 3D out-of-the box
Swirl is a component in the Google Web Designer that build an interactive 3D model for ad displays. The product, the layers (for 3D), the background, the animation, the opacity can be configured. A sophisticated add-on but provided out-of-the box by Google, in a moment where 3D product presentations and adverts grow. Opinion for B2B: Right moment to point out the many tools that Google offers. From The ad platform, keyword planners, Google Analytics to design tools. The Google Web Designer is a really good tool, easy to use and organised by ad formats. The Rich Media gallery is a great library of display and video examples.
Google very discreet nowadays, but always fantastic tools.
News 3: More of smart home by Google, but low-key
No Google I/O this year but a “Google Smart Home Summit” last Wednesday. Introducing SHED, gentle sleep and a new speaker. Smart Home Entertainment Device (SHED) is the new system to link Google Assistant to TV sets and game consoles. An API open to any developer. Gentle Sleep and Wake-up is a new function on the Google Assistant. And finally a new Nest speaker — more design, same inside. Well, that’s it! Opinion for B2B: Very unspectacular “Summit” by Google Smart Home team. Empathis on API and SDK, a conference for developers. But really no real breakthroughs or exciting feature.
Gentle Sleep is a new feature… suits well to the latest “Summit”
