Booming health tech startups in Copenhagen

Cerebriu accelerates brain scan diagnosis
Cerebriu is a growing startup that has offices at the Talent Garden Copenhagen coworking space (where we discovered them). A real-time assistance to doctors during brain scans, finds critical brain areas to examine closer and leads to a better diagnosis in one MRI instead of several. Opinion: Patients just go through one MRI scan instead of several ones. Also better diagnosis, as the software can find smaller anomalies that doctors can hardly detect with their eyes in one MRI. Already implemented in some public health care centers in the Nordics, with potential to expand into new markets.
One MRI scan instead of several, better for patient, doctor, and hospital.
Corti, co-pilot for medical staff
Corti is a co-pilot for medical staff during consultations and emergency calls. Uses speech recognition to take notes, help with diagnosis and decision making support (e.g. decisions like sending an ambulance and prioritising patients). Adopted by Sweden’s National Emergency Hotline and Boston Emergency Services in the USA. Opinion: Making the right decision in an emergency situation is hard for humans. The assistant always suggests a rational decision and diagnosis for symptoms the medical staff might not have top-of-head in an emergency.
Besides the emergency situations, Corti speech recognition also supports doctors in the daily task of patient documentation by taking notes.
Health tech hub, an ecosystem for health tech startups
Health Tech Hub is one of the biggest entrepreneurial hubs in the Nordic region for connecting private and public actors in the healthcare industry. The hub connects 4 parties: startups, tech partners (Google, AWS, Microsoft), medical companies (Roche, Novo Nordisk), and public health institutions. Opinion: Impression: Denmark wants to attract more North American and Asian startups. Hub has become the catalyst of innovations in the fields of diagnosis, healthcare, wellness, women’s health, and mental health. It seems like the increased collaboration between public healthcare and private health tech also enhances digitalisation in the Danish healthcare system.
Btw, Corti and Cerebriu are both part of the Health Tech Hub ecosystem.
