AI in education just makes sense, it adapts.
3 innovation and digital news in 1 minute. Every Monday. Episode 403.
Amelia, the AI tutor of GoStudent.
The Vienna edtech champion GoStudent has a new tutor, Amelia. A chat bot in the adaptive learning offer, called GoStudent Learning. It is a separate offer besides the regular tutor-student offering. In fact, it offers quizzes and practices for a selected subject and adapts to a single person’s progress. A personalised path, based on AI models. Opinion: The idea is not new, adaptive learning. No average material for an average student. But adapting to students’ progress with AI at large, is new. GoStudent announced this in April 2024. A pity, they didn’t specify or publish how AI works in detail or which models. A black box.
Adaptive, a breakthrough in education. But are the students ready for it?
India big edtech Byju’s also in the AI race.
Byju’s ($6,3bn fundings) is the mastodon of e-learning, operating above all in India. They cover AI with three clear modules. BADRI is a solution for personalised courses, Math GPT for difficult math exercises and a bot and guide called Teacher GPT. Opinion: Byju’s had its ups and downs, from banners in football world cup to a near insolvency in 2024. Still the three AI solutions are worth covering in today’s news episode. It covers and explains the three main use cases of AI in education tech.
Byju Raveendram is the founder, hence the name. Today under pressure.
BetterUp Manage with an AI-based unique personal development.
BetterUp is an established and leading marketplace for coaching (more than 3.000 of them), both for individuals and for businesses. They launched a new solution named BetterUp Manage which is a personal development course based on AI. Opinion: BetterUp has acquired the capacity to develop AI — with Motive in 2021, and Practica and Heyday in 2023. All of them with personalisation functionality. Personalisation, a capacity of AI (not necessarily Gen AI btw), that makes so much sense in education, and coaching!
BetterUp is above all running in larger US corporations. Any in Europe?
