1x is your new metal coworker.

1x builds human-like robots that are designed to work alongside humans. The names are Eve and Neo and while Neo is still in development, Eve can be bought for commercial use. The Startup from Oslo collected a total funding of $36.5m, with one of the investors being the OpenAi startup fund. Opinion: 1x made it their mission to meet the world’s labour demands across industries. Looking at the robots, it is impressive to observe, how much they are already able to do. However in order to really assist in difficult labour tasks, there is still a long way for this technology to go.

Should robots focus on specific tasks instead of trying to do it all?

Exoskeleton robot is your new legs.

Reev is a startup from Toulouse, France that develops robotic walking assistance. It should help people, whose walking abilities were affected after strokes, multiple sclerosis or paraplegia, to overcome daily disabilities by becoming more autonomous. The gadget includes a sensor, an App and an AI-powered knee-brace. Opinion: Developing a walking assistance that can be personalized to a stroke patient’s needs, would be an incredible attainment. The fact that this little robot is powered by AI, means it would collect data that can be used for further improving the product.

The medical industry needs this technology!

Anybotics is your new safety inspector.

Anybotics is a startup from Zürich that produces autonomous robots for construction inspections. The technology provides a detailed overview from of the worksite to improve safety by removing workers from dangerous areas. Next to construction, Anybotics robots are used in industries like mining, petroleum, gas and power inspections. Opinion: Anybotic robots come into play where humans are limited. Think about a construction inspection at a high altitude or in a mine. However, the $22 million funding will not be enough in the long run to develop such an extensive technology.

This robot deserves more recognition in the construction industry!
